Homework: SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!! Essential Question: Do you know what is special about this coming Monday, 26 January? Essential Answer: It is AUSTRALIA DAY, mate! Monday is 26 January 2015, Australia Day. Very similar to our 4th of July, it is the day celebrating the discovery of Australia. To celebrate such a momentous occasion, we will be spending the next week and half exploring and learning about Australian culture, geography and history. To start the week off, we will be celebrating Australia Day Monday during class. To help celebrate, for Monday we are asking everyone to wear red, white and blue (the colors of the Australian flag) OR green and gold (Australia’s official colors). If you wear these colors Monday, and check in with the 6th grade SS teachers before homeroom (as you come down the 6th grade hallway – between Ms. Dawson & Ms. Cape’s rooms), you will be allowed to start Aussie talkin! You will be given a list of Aussie words and phrases along with a sticker to show that you are allowed to use the words. You are welcome to look at and practice the words during homeroom, in the halls, during lunch, etc. but not during instructional time. Please note that red, white, & blue for Australia Day does NOT include USA flag shirts. This is red, white, & blue as in the colors on the Australian flag. Get ready to learn Aussie style!
